The Security door and window screens draft standard AS5039 part 1 & 3 are currently available for public comment.

KEY POINTS

The key changes in the new versions are:

AS 5039.1

• The inclusion of requirements for corrosion testing
• The inclusion of product definitions, categorisation and testing formats
• Changes to marking requirements as part of screen labelling.
• The addition of impact testing categories

AS 5039.3

• The inclusion of product definitions, categorisation and testing formats
• The removal of shear testing
• Change to Dynamic Impact Testing to include optional higher impact level.
• New Dynamic Impact Testing locations to include additional frame configurations.

It is highly recommended that members access and provide relevant feedback to the proposed standard. Feedback can be provided directly Standards Australia prior to the 28^{th of} April 2023.
